Our Story

About Brooks Investment Group

Brooks Investment Group is a privately held investment firm based in New York. Founded in 2023 by Dishon Brooks, the firm invests across private credit, private equity, public equities, and special situations, taking controlling and significant positions in operating businesses and providing flexible financing to companies with strong fundamentals.

The firm was founded on a simple conviction: capital should work in every market environment, not only when the tide is rising. Most portfolios are built to track an index. Ours is built with the goal of outperforming one.

We seek returns that do not depend on the direction of the market cycle. That means concentrating capital in a focused set of high-conviction positions, where independent research gives us a genuine edge, rather than spreading it thin to mirror a benchmark.

The most compelling opportunities are often the ones few are watching: overlooked credits, under-followed companies, and assets that fall outside the mandates of larger institutions. Finding alpha there takes patience, original work, and the willingness to act decisively when others are not paying attention.

Today, the firm pairs institutional discipline with the agility of an owner-led platform. Decisions are made quickly, interests are aligned, and every position is one we are prepared to own for the long term.

Leadership

Dishon Brooks, Founder and Managing Member

Dishon is the Chief Investment Officer of a single family office, where he oversees a multi-asset portfolio of nearly $1 billion across private credit, private equity, real estate, and public equities. He built the office’s investment framework from the ground up, including its credit risk rating models, investment and credit policies, and the underwriting process applied across every asset class.

Trained in finance and commercial banking, he brings a lender’s rigor to every decision: understand the downside first, and let structure, not story, drive the investment.

Dishon has also underwritten the acquisitions of, and operated, multiple businesses across different industries. That rare combination of allocator, underwriter, and operator means he evaluates every opportunity the way an owner would, with a clear view of what it takes to build and run a company, not just finance one.
